On October 12, YG Entertainment released an announcement concerning WINNER‘s future activities and Nam Taehyun‘s health via YG-life.
Netizens in Korea have reacted to the news.
From Nate Pann:
Comments:[+202, -25] I remember what NTH said before on Healing Camp… If he’s not active, then he gets nervous. When I saw that I thought, even the most popular and loved celebrity like him says that he feels lonely and nervous when he’s not active for a little bit. In NTH’s case, he had a hot debut but he hasn’t been that active, so this news is understandable. When other companies debut groups, they send them out to different programs and don’t filter through different varitety shows… As soon as he debuted, NTH suffered from bullying rumors, and when photos of him giving money to a substitute driver* he got ripped apart (not saying that he wasn’t wrong to do it, but Dispatch basically published that to rip NTH apart), and on top of that his joke to his fans during the concert… His image was totally ruined as an asshole, and he probably felt so much pressure because of that. After that he tried acting, but a ton of articles came up criticizing his acting… In Park Shinyang’s Actor’s School? I remember he was crying, apologizing to the drama producers for all the criticism he brought them, and saying that he was suffering from guilt. From time to time, there would be posts that praised him for his interaction with fans, but would always have anti-comments calling him arrogant… I don’t know the details about why there was a long hiatus of a year and a half after their debut, but I remember reading an article when NTH had stress after seeing the mild reaction to his self-produced song. I was following WINNER because they were from YG and was really disappointed at the lack of comebacks, but now knowing that he’s hurting mentally… I feel bad, also for the rest of the members… Now I can understand YG, who got a lot of criticism for not letting them debut… I hope he gets better and makes a comeback in better condition, WINNER fighting.
*When a person is too drunk to drive themselves, so he/she calls a substitute driver.[+182, -12] Yang Hyun Suk __ You never released albums and didn’t have any plans for acting to begin with. And even though Taehyun has problems with his left ear and had psychological issues, recently, he put up songs on Soundcloud, downloaded Facebook, and tried really hard to connect with fans. So I’m angry, looking back at my past self whining about no comeback. Taehyun knows better than anyone that fans are waiting for a comeback, but feeling that it was his fault, how sorry and uncomfortable he must have felt. Really, this makes me cry, and my heart aches for him. [+153, -10] It would be good if at least the other members were active, but a total no activity… The mental burden on NTH would be smaller if at least the other members were active.;
Title: I really lost respect for YG today
I’m thinking that everyone probably saw the article that YG posted by now.
That WINNER’s plans were delayed due to NTH’s healthㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋDon’t f*ck with meㅋㅋWhat? WINNER’s new albums are delayed because of NTH health issues?? That’s bullsh*tㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Then why would he post self-published songs on Soundcloud or make a Facebook account to connect with fans?? Isn’t it obvious that because the company doesn’t let him do anything that he’s personally trying to connect with fans????
After that brutal survival, he promised that they would debut right away, but debuted them a year after
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ The debut activity lasted one month, and right after he sent them to a Japan tour, working them to the bone, and now this year? Promises that they would comeback with EXIT, but only releases the E album in February, no news for months, and now announcing that it was delayed due to NTH healthㅋㅋㅋㅋMakes no f*cking senseㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Doesn’t let them be active, nor does he even let them go on vacation; he makes them produce everydayㅋㅋㅋ ㅅㅂㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ He’s working them to the bone, is it not the company’s fault that NTH is in this condition??After achieving his dream of becoming a singer, reality is the company is grabbing WINNER by the ankle, it doesn’t make senseㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ And the boys already have enough songs to release not only X album, but also I and Tㅋㅋㅋㅋ About 500? Songs is what I’m guessing, it could be more or less, but that’s my guess.
‘SENTIMENTAL’ from E album was a song made last year but released this year, and ‘I’M YOUNG’ is from about 2 years agoㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ And during the Seoul first concert, it was so hard to see them cry, saying that they missed the stage so much.. The anxiety that fans will leave them, which grows with every delay. The anxiety thinking, could I sing in front of people?, piling on itself, isn’t that what cause this problem?? At the time they said they felt as if they were trainees againㅋㅋㅋㅋ How much did the company not let them be active that a debuted artists would say they felt like a trainee again?? Was the company thinking at all??? All I see in the article is the comapny taking advantage of this and hiding behind NamTae, making if seem like his fault. It’s just a heartless companyㅋㅋㅋㅋ Are they just putting all their mistakes on NamTae?? And what? The hoodneck (next in lineup) was WINNER?? Don’t f*ck with me, if that were the case, it would have come out earlier.ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ They already revealed one of the songs on the X album during their concertㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ So funny, saying now that it was just about to come outㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ And now that NamTae is sick, making it seem like it’s his fault. Shit, this company is the f*cking worst
If it wasn’t WINNER, I wouldn’t even look at this company
(T/N: lol this is super opinionated and “If it wasn’t WINNER, I wouldn’t even look at this company” is way too extreme, and not representative of YG United)
NaeTae, get well and show us your smiling face
That’s all I want, not even a comeback.
Comments (on this post):[+33, -0] What’s certain is that YG really ruined a person. It’s not like WINNER did something illegal that they were given a broadcast ban, just straight up not letting them be active, the aniexty and nervousness. He was unwell before debut, too? Looking at the video, I can’t really believe that, if it was this bad, how could he have endured trainee years… I hate when companies hold on to trainees with the false promise of debut for years; ending school early, what’s the good in that… unless it’s like Boa and her success, I think that that just ruins the trainee’s life. [+29, -0] This is a condition brought upon entirely by YG. YG has nearly no long-term trainees. SM and JYP have a few trainees/idols that trained for close to or more than 10 years, but I’ve heard that almost half the trainees at YG can’t handle it and leave.They debuted after all that hard work, but the company doesn’t even let the go on programs, and so many CF requests came in but all of them were denied, and the hiatus just got longer. A lot of people know ‘EMPTY’, but don’t know WINNER, or know Kang Seungyoon and Song Mino but don’t know that they’re in the same group. Now the full group activities are most important, but TH’s mental condition has gotten worse.. So there’s only waiting, the members probably decided to wait as well, KSY is still spending nights producing in the studio. There’s nothing we can do but wait, to hope that Taehyun will get well and come back. What’s the use in blaming YG, it’s already too late. [+24, -1] The post isn’t saying that NTH’s mental issues are a lie, but that the problem is that the company is making it seem like the reason there was no comeback yet is due to NTH’s weak mental. Fans all know that WINNER has a ton of unreleased songs in store, and that the company isn’t releasing them because they don’t want to and ignored fan’s protests until Taehyun became sick, and then made it seem like it was Taehyun’s fault. Saying that he had the issues since trainee years, and taking them out of the issue– that’s what makes no sense. Truthfully, this is the same company that put him back on stage after he broke a rib bone, and not apologizing officiallyㅋㅋㅋ
