2NE1 Says “Goodbye” to International Fans, Ranking 1st on iTunes in 8 Countries


Overseas fans expressed their sentiments after girl group 2NE1 disbanded.

Goodbye“, 2NE1’s last song released on the midnight of the 21st ranked first on iTunes in eight countries including Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia and the Philippines. The music video also exceeded a million views after seven hours upon its release.

“Goodbye” is a song of farewell directly written for the fans sung by CL, Park Bom and Sandara Park serenaded by an emotional rhythm of a guitar.

The music video portrayed a monochromatic images of the group and their memories together replaying as the remaining members were watching, adding a dismal effect.

American Billboard also introduces the music video, and the process of the group’s debut until disbandment and why Yang Hyun Suk, the main producer of YG Entertainment decided to disband the group.

2NE1 made a huge impact with their debut releasing “Lollipop” with BIGBANG in 2009, “Fire“, “I Don’t Care“, “I am the Best“, “Lonely” and songs with reggae, electronic vibe and other genres.

They introduced a fresh and dynamic concept and choreography, unconventional fashion or hairstyle that deviates from the norm and usual pattern of girl groups at the time of their debut.

2NE1 was also the first Korean girl group to go on a world tour twice. In 2014, its “CRUSH” album ranked 61st on the Billboard 200 chart, setting a new record for a Korean artist. Indeed, 2NE1 left a big mark in the history of Korean music before its disbandment.
