YG Entertainment CEO YANG HYUN SUK revealed a short clip of YG’s boygroup iKON’s new music video for the first time.

On April 9, YANG HYUN SUK posted a short video featuring the seven iKON members standing still to an awesome hip hop beat.

Looking at the video, one can see that the rumor YG and iKON has been gritting their teeth is not all wrong.

iKON already finished shooting the music video for their first song, and the music video that they started shooting on April 9 is for their second song.

An YG official commented, “Mr. Yang has high hopes for iKON’s new songs. He doesn’t give compliments often, but he has been saying that iKON’s new songs are the best to the staff.”

iKON has been on an hiatus for a year. On May 30 last year, iKON released “#WYD”, but there weren’t enough promotions. Afterwards, iKON focused on the Japanese market and even succeeded in holding an arena tour, which is rare for a rookie that only debuted a year ago. iKON has become so popular in Japan that it will hold its first dome concert in May.

The YG official said, “iKON focused on Japan last year, so the group feels sorry towards its Korean fans. This year, iKON plans to focus more on Korea. Just like WINNER, Korean fans will also be able to iKON throughout the end of this year.”

He went on to say, “When the shooting and editing of the music video is done, we will set the release date.”

After a 14-month hiatus, WINNER has recently made a successful comeback and took the No.1 spot in 21 countries, and its leader KANG SEUNGYOON said in a recent interview, “WINNER does sentimental music, but iKON does powerful music.” This was a hint that YG’s two boy groups, WINNER and iKON, are taking different approaches to dominate the market with different music styles and concepts.

iKON is most likely to release its new songs at the end of this month or in the beginning of May. Expectations are running high for iKON as they have gained plenty of stage experience during the past year and it is a group that has produced self-written songs since debut.
