Group BLACKPINK had their first successful collaborative performance with Pop star Dua Lipa.

On May 1(local time), BLACKPINK held the first concert of the ‘BLACKPINK 2019 WORLD TOUR with KIA [IN YOUR AREA] NEWARK’ in Newark, New Jersey.

Dua Lipa, who previously collaborated with BLACKPINK last year on October through the song ‘Kiss and Make Up’, appeared as a special guest and made the crowd cheer with passion. As Dua Lipa’s appearance has not been notified, it became a special surprise gift for the audience who attended the concert.

In addition, Dua Lipa and BLACKPINK’s collaborative live performance had meaning since it was their first time performing together on stage. 

The audiences uploaded videos of the according performance through social media sites after watching them perform and seemed to be very surprised. BLACKPINK and Dua Lipa’s surprise performance is heating up the internet and becoming viral at a fast pace.

Dua Lipa shared her thoughts on performing with BLACKPINK by stating, “They were amazing, and it’s an honor for me to perform with them” and added, “I’m so happy to meet you again”. BLACKPINK responded by stating, “We’re happy and thankful that you performed with us”.

Dua Lipa uploaded a rehearsal photo from BLACKPINK’s concert on her social media account and wrote, “I have so much love for these girls and for our friendship”, commemorating their first-ever collaborative performance.

‘Kiss and Make Up’ by BLACKPINK and Dua Lipa topped iTunes charts in 21 different countries while being ranked at no. 8 in the US, proving their global popularity. Furthermore, the song was ranked at no. 93 on the HOT 100, which is Billboard’s main singles chart, while also receiving the spotlight by being ranked at no. 26 on UK’s Official Chart.

BLACKPINK is currently continuing their world tour in North America to meet the local fans, following their successful tour in Asia. They will continue the heat of their first concert in Newark by holding their second concert today on the 2nd(local time).
